2023 Recognizing Public Servants Scholarship

As a criminal defense attorney for over 20 years, David Benowitz has a passion for public service and greatly respects individuals determined to improve society. That is why, each year, he is proud to sponsor the Recognizing Public Servants Scholarship, to share his passion, and to spread awareness of the important roles that public servants and public defenders play in society. This scholarship is intended to award a determined student $1,000 to pursue their education which best shares the importance of public service and why public defenders are important to the legal system.

2022 Recognizing Public Servants Scholarship

The scholarship will award $1,000 to the student who expresses their thoughts with insight and creativity on the importance of public servants and their work. In a 750-1,000 word essay, discuss the importance of public servants and public service in our society and why public servants, especially public defenders, are important in our legal system.

2021 Reindeer Romp 5k & 10k

Criminal defense attorney David Benowitz was proud to sponsor the 2021 Reindeer Romp 5K & 10K that benefited the nonprofit organization Operation Enduring Warrior (OEW). This organization is Veteran founded and relies and operates 100% on its volunteers. Their sole mission is to honor, empower, and motivate the U.S. wounded veterans through physical, mental, and emotional rehabilitation. Proceeds from this event went towards the organization’s operational support and programs to help our nation’s veterans overcome hardships. That is why he was proud to support the Semper Fi Fund by sponsoring the 2020 Semper Fi 5K & Half held in our nation’s capital. The Semper Fi Fund is a non-profit organization that dedicates their time and resources to wounded members of the United State Armed Forces.
