The Sixth District extends from the northernmost portion of the city’s southeast quadrant (east of the Anacostia River) into the northeast quadrant. The Sixth District Station serves the following communities: Benning Ridge, Burrville, Deanwood, Dupont Park, Fairlawn, Fort Davis Park, Fort Dupont, Grant Park, Greenway, Hillcrest, Marshal Heights, Naylor Gardens, and Randle Highlands. The district is largely residential, but it is home to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, which maintains a wide variety of water-grown flora, and Fort Dupont Park, a 376-acre, federally maintained park.

Many small businesses dot Minnesota Avenue NE from East Capitol Street to Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, and Good Hope Road from 13th to 18th streets. Larger shopping areas in the Sixth District are located at the Penn-Branch Center at Pennsylvania and Branch Avenues, Fairfax Village Center at Alabama and Pennsylvania Avenues, and at Alabama Avenue and Naylor Road.
